Accessibility by Area

Boat Tours

Accessing the boats can be difficult. The path to the Old Port of Fira involves many steps, although the cable car is wheelchair accessible. Boarding the boats often requires navigating a narrow gangplank. While crews are helpful, the boats themselves may not be designed for wheelchairs. It is best to contact the tour operator directly to discuss specific needs.

Volcano Hike (Nea Kameni)

The path on the volcano is a rugged, steep, and rocky dirt trail. It is not accessible for wheelchairs, strollers, or visitors with significant mobility impairments.

Caldera Towns (Fira & Oia)

The main pathways in Fira and Oia are often crowded and narrow, with many sets of stairs connecting different levels. While some main routes are flat, exploring the villages fully is very difficult for wheelchair users.

Fira Cable Car

The cable car connecting Fira town to the Old Port is wheelchair accessible, making it the best way for visitors with mobility issues to get down to the water level.
